Wayne was born in Iowa and attended schools there through high school. He received the following degrees from Truman State University (previously Northeast Missouri State University) in Kirksville, Missouri: B.S. with a math major, business administration minor; B.S.Ed., with a math education major; M.A. with an emphasis on Secondary School Administration. Wayne also has an Educational Specialist Degree in School Administration from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL.
Wayne has always been one to help others, and knew he would be a teacher to “pay it forward” for the great teachers who taught him. He has been a Title I and Elementary Special Education Aide, junior high math teacher, high school math teacher, junior high and high school principal (8 years), with over 20 years education experience. Then, changing careers, he worked as a Marketing Specialist for IBM for over 30 years, helping colleges, schools, banks, insurance companies and manufacturing all improve their programs with technology.
Wayne will never retire; just keep moving to help others in need. His work at Calo has been very rewarding, and matches his Christian belief of helping others through understanding, empathy, commitment and demonstrating a positive attitude. He has been at Calo since July, 2019. On a personal note: Wayne has been married to his wife Sybil for over 50 years. Together, they have three children: Darin, a pilot who they lost in a commercial plane crash in 1996; Lara, a Registered Nurse and Natalie, self-employed. They have seven grandchildren ages 22 to 7.
